You are a smart, confident, successful executive.  But, there seems like there’s not enough time in the day to get everything on your list done, and you are a GET-IT-DONE kind of person.  So, you deliver, but it comes as an expense.

  • you’re tired, but have a hard time sleeping at night (maybe hormones? Maybe not.)
  • you used to be in great shape but lately you can’t shake the 5-10-20 pounds you’ve gained over the last 10 years. No matter how hard you exercise and eat right, it won’t come off.

I know how you feel, sort of.  As an entrepreneur, I was also a GET-IT-DONE person, but I saw the writing on the wall.

I had no trouble falling asleep because I was tired from my business and taking care of a growing family, but I would wake up in the middle of the night.  That is where my mind would start up, thinking about all the things I needed to do.  I got great ideas for my business, and I just couldn’t fall back to sleep!  So, I would start the day, exhausted and running on caffeine.

Thank God for these three things:

  • I knew enough about how the body works to know what I was going thru wasn’t just hormonal or normal
  • I was in touch with my body enough to hear it crying for help, and
  • I was able to identify key things to get me out of this mess I was setting myself up for.

As a female business woman, working primarily with women who consulted with me regarding fitness and health, I saw this a lot (and I think that is one reason why I could see it in myself).

We know that if we don’t get it done, it won’t get done (or done right!), but I learned that this attitude is killing us.

  • One out of three women get breast cancer.
  • Thyroid disease is considered an epidemic among women.
  • Heart disease is still the number one cause of death for men that is totally preventable with lifestyle.
  • Most execs over 40 have unexplained aches and pains that are simply chocked up to age.

These are not requirements of aging.  They are caused by a state of mind that is tearing us apart.
